What to Expect From Us

Plenty of HVAC visits begin with a guess and finish with a costly quote. Ours begin with an inspection, and you see what we find.

  1. 01

    Testing comes before pricing

We check the parts most likely to fail: igniters, capacitors, flame sensors, filters, refrigerant pressures and condensate drains. You get actual readings, then our recommendation and the reason for it.

  2. 02

    An honest repair-or-replace answer

If a repair is the sensible choice, we say so. If the unit is worn out and a fix would only last a few months, we tell you that too and show you what we found. The decision is yours.

  3. 03

    Written price before work starts

The price is on paper before any tool comes out. On repairs, you don't pay for the same visit twice: the diagnostic fee goes toward the repair once you have us do it.

  4. 04

    Same price day or night

The emergency line is open 24/7, with no emergency or after-hours fees. A furnace failing at 2 a.m. is bad enough without an extra charge.

  5. 05

    Tidy work, with photos

We put down drop cloths, wear shoe covers indoors and take old parts away. When something is burned, cracked or corroded, we can take a picture so you see it for yourself.

Heating and Cooling Work We Do

Furnace repair and AC repair make up most of our calls. We also put in new furnaces and air conditioners, heat pumps and ductless mini-splits, and we offer maintenance plans, commercial HVAC and new construction HVAC. We are licensed and bonded in WA. Repairs carry a 1-year labor warranty, and a new installation is backed by up to 3 years on labor. When a system quits at night, emergency HVAC repair is available 24/7.

What Moves the Price

No two jobs price the same. We would rather explain the reasons than hand you a number with nothing behind it. These are the things that usually decide the cost.

Estimates are free on installations and replacements, and every job gets a written quote before work begins. On repairs, what you pay for the diagnosis comes off the repair total when you decide to go ahead.

What actually failed
Swapping out a tired capacitor or cleaning a flame sensor takes little time and few parts. Replacing a compressor or dealing with a heat exchanger that has cracked is a far larger job. Our inspection shows which kind of problem you have.
Age and condition of the unit
Older systems can need parts that are harder to find. Wear on nearby parts also changes whether a repair is worth doing.
Equipment type and size
For new equipment, the size of your home, its insulation and its windows set how much heating and cooling you need. A furnace with central air, a heat pump and a ductless mini-split each price differently.
Access
Equipment squeezed into a crawlspace or a cramped attic means slower, harder work than a unit sitting in an open garage. Outdoor condensers hemmed in by fences or shrubs add time as well.
Permits and electrical
New installations often need a permit and an inspection, and sometimes electrical updates. We put those in the quote so they do not show up later.
Rebates and credits
On heat pumps, we help you claim Avista rebates and federal tax credits. That can lower what the system costs you in the end.

How a Service Visit Goes

Nothing fancy. Here is what happens after you pick up the phone.

  1. 1

You call and tell us what is happening

No heat, short cycling, a strange noise, water by the furnace. Describe it as best you can. Same-day response is guaranteed, and the emergency line is open around the clock.

  2. 2

    We inspect the whole system

We do not stop at the first thing we find. We check the electrical parts, burners or coils, airflow, thermostat and safety controls, because one failure often has a cause somewhere else.

  3. 3

You get plain findings and a written quote

We walk you through what is wrong, what can wait and what cannot. If there is more than one fair option, we lay them side by side.

  4. 4

We fix it and clean up

Once you say yes, we do the work, run the system through a full cycle and confirm it is heating or cooling the way it should. Old parts leave with us.

A Local HVAC Company That Looks Before It Talks

HVAC Rathdrum is a heating and cooling company for homeowners in Rathdrum and the towns around it. We fix furnaces and air conditioners, install new systems and keep existing ones running with regular maintenance.

Our winters are long and cold, and summer afternoons get hot and dry, so most homes here lean hard on both heat and AC. That is why we take the time to find the real cause of a problem. A part swapped on a guess tends to fail again in the next cold snap.

We keep our explanations short and our quotes in writing. If you want a second opinion on something another company told you, we are glad to take a look.

Questions We Hear Often

Something not covered here? (208) 974-9411

Is a night, weekend or holiday call more expensive?

No. We charge no emergency or after-hours fees. Emergency HVAC repair is available 24/7, and a call at night is priced the same as a weekday visit.

What warranty comes with a repair?

Every repair includes a 1-year labor warranty. If our work fails during that year, we come back and fix it. The written quote spells out what the job covers.

Is the quote really free?

Estimates for installations and replacements cost nothing. A repair carries a diagnostic fee to pin down the problem, and we credit it toward the repair when you have us do it. In every case, the written quote comes before any work.

Should I repair my system or replace it?

We look at how old the system is, what failed, the shape of the parts around it, and how the repair cost compares with new equipment. Then we tell you straight what we would do in your place. Many systems just need a repair, and we say so when that's true.

How quickly can you get here?

Same-day response is guaranteed. When you call, we set a time and let you know when to expect us. For heat or AC that quits after hours, the emergency line is staffed 24/7.

What comes with a maintenance plan?

Plans start at $14.99 a month and include scheduled tune-ups, discounts on repairs and priority booking. Each tune-up spots dirty or worn parts before they cost you your heat or cooling. Our Maintenance Plans page has the details.

Can you help me get heat pump rebates?

Yes. We help you claim Avista rebates and federal tax credits on heat pumps, and we go over the forms and equipment rules so nothing gets missed.
